Call with the address, the dates and who will be on site. Charlotte area providers quote portable toilets, handwash stations and service visits, and you compare the quotes side by side.

Race weeks stretch every truck
Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord holds big races, and the weeks around them use up providers across the region. Campgrounds, private parking fields and hospitality lots all want units at once. If your event falls on one of those weekends, even somewhere else in the metro, ask early. Trucks can be booked solid.
Outside racing season there are festivals in Uptown, charity runs on the greenways, and tournaments in the surrounding towns. Spring and fall carry most of them, which are the same weeks everyone else wants a truck.
Towers in Uptown, rooftops in the suburbs
Charlotte is a banking city and the skyline shows it. Towers keep rising in Uptown and South End, with apartments filling the lots between them. A unit at street level eats scarce space, and a crew on the thirtieth floor will not ride down to use it. Ask whether the provider does crane-lift units for upper floors and how they service them.
Out past the beltway the work is wide and flat. Ballantyne, Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill and Indian Trail all keep adding houses, and Concord has distribution buildings and retail near the speedway. Those jobs run for months, which suits a monthly rental with weekly pumping.
Around Ballantyne and SouthPark the typical job is an office or medical building. Tenants and visitors will walk past the units, so ask for newer ones and tell the provider the site is on view.
Red clay and afternoon storms
Piedmont clay turns slick in the rain and bakes hard when it is dry. After a storm, a lot that was fine yesterday can swallow a service truck. Put gravel at the entrance, and tell the provider when rain is in the forecast. They can plan around a wet week far more easily than they can pull a stuck truck out of a ditch.
Humidity makes units smell worse from June into September, and afternoon thunderstorms are routine. Stake or strap units where the ground allows it. Put the handwash station where workers walk anyway, not tucked behind a unit at the edge of the lot.
North to Lake Norman, east to Monroe
Huntersville and the Lake Norman shore have steady housing, retail and marina work. Towns set their own rules for building close to the water, so check with the town before you place a unit near the shore. Providers who work the area usually know the sticking points.
Monroe is far enough out that some providers add a trip charge. Compare quotes on how they treat distance, not only on the headline line.
South End and the blocks around Bank of America Stadium fill up for match days and concerts, and the lots are small. Providers who do Uptown events arrive well before the gates open. Ask about their load-in window and who unlocks the site.
For a greenway or park event, draw a simple site map with the unit locations, the truck entrance and the spot where the crowd gathers. Providers read a map faster than a paragraph.
Plan around Sunday, too. Weekend crews are thin at many providers, and a Sunday morning service visit is a special arrangement. If your event runs through Sunday, say so when you call.
Charlotte is also a trucking and rail hub, with distribution work along I-85 and out toward Gastonia and Concord. Those sites are large, flat and fenced, with crews that arrive early and leave by mid-afternoon. Ask for service before the crew shows up so a driver is not working around forty workers on their break, and ask that units go near the gate and the break area instead of the far corner. A provider who has serviced a distribution site before will already know the routine.
The NoDa and Plaza Midwood corridors have small renovation jobs on tight streets, and Charlotte neighborhoods like Dilworth and Myers Park have older lots with mature trees and overhead lines. Both complicate a truck. Mention low branches or wires when you call, because a tall pump truck that cannot get under a branch will not service the unit.
Reading three quotes that do not match
Quotes for the same job can differ for reasons that have little to do with price. One covers weekly service and another a single mid-job visit. One includes pickup and another bills it. Make each provider answer the same questions: how many units and stations, which service days, what delivery and pickup cost, how long the rental runs.
General contractors in Charlotte expect toilets on the first morning, and schedules are tight. Order early enough that a late truck is an annoyance and not a stopped site. If the site has no power or water, ask what the provider brings for lighting and handwash.
For an event, find out who answers when something goes wrong at ten on a Saturday night. A phone that rings an office after five is not support.
If the date is close, say that too. Charlotte providers fit rush jobs in when they can, and they will tell you straight whether Thursday is realistic or Monday is the honest answer.
